Super Sessions

Powerful stories. Inspiring speakers. Join us for one of the most anticipated events at Synergy as we welcome two guests who redefine leadership to share sharp observations and practical insights for crafting a brighter future—for ourselves, our organizations, and the world at large.

Madeleine Albright
64th U.S. Secretary of State

Madeleine Albright became the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government when she was named the first female U.S. Secretary of State in 1997. She is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her contributions to international peace and democracy.

Dr. Albright will draw on her distinguished diplomatic career and her ongoing work in the private sector to share her up-to-the-minute perspective on the pressing challenges facing the world’s democracies. She has been on the front lines of global security, and is uniquely positioned to guide a discussion on technology’s role as both a tool of geopolitical instability and a safeguard against humanity’s worst impulses.

As a witness to history as well as a teacher and shaper of it, Dr. Albright is as comfortable leading her Georgetown students on the case for multilateralism and the fragility of democracy as she is kicking off her latest book tour on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. It has taken her a long time to develop her voice, and as she says, “Now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.”

Erik Weihenmayer
Author, Adventurer & Cofounder, No Barriers

In 2001, Erik Weihenmayer became the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest. His team of 19 people also hold the world record for the most people on one team to reach the top of Everest on the same day. At Synergy 2019, you’ll hear his remarkable story, and learn about the power of teamwork. Erik attributes this achievement to his ability to bring together a group of people who weren’t afraid to link their fates inextricably together. “Imagine your team roped together, building upon each other’s strengths, and growing day by day,” he said. “The scope and power of that kind of team is unstoppable.”

Erik will also share his journey of personal perseverance. From a lifetime of overcoming challenges, Erik developed a series of concepts he calls No Barriers Life Elements that have enabled him to harness adversity, shatter barriers, and create a life of purpose. “The freedom of attacking a challenge and problem solving my way through it invigorated me and helped me to feel less trapped by blindness,” he said. He uses systems, strategies, and tools that are carefully designed to minimize risk and maximize outcomes, and is guided by a vision that determines his goals and the legacy he wants to leave behind.

Learn how great challenge can be a potent fuel source for achievement, resilience, innovation, and growth. Join friends and colleagues for an unforgettable adventure narrative that will help you create a life of purpose and impact.
