About Atlanta

Atlanta is one of the most diverse cities in the South, and visitors are captivated by its history and southern charm. Georgia’s capital is home to premier technology shows like the Atlanta Tech Summit, which makes the city one of the top conference destinations in the country.

Attractions

No matter what kind of activities you’re looking for during your downtime in Atlanta, there are countless reasons to leave your hotel and explore the area:

Georgia Aquarium—Home to hundreds of aquatic creatures and the only place outside Asia with a whale shark exhibit, the nonprofit Georgia Aquarium features interactive animal encounters and is a respected research and conservation center.

High Museum of Art—A stunning exterior houses the leading art museum in the Southeast, with more than 15,000 works of art in its permanent collection including 19th and 20th century decorative art, African American art, European art and photography. Be sure to check out the interactive and immersive installations on the Sifly Piazza.

Atlanta Botanical Garden—Unwind and enjoy your surroundings: the only canopy-level walkway in the United States will make you feel like you’re floating amid hickory, oak and poplar trees over the 30-acre woodland botanical garden below. The garden is also home to many creative special events throughout the year.

World of Coca-Cola—Explore the museum to learn about the history of one of the most beloved soft drinks and see hundreds of artifacts and unique treasures. After your tour, you’ll be able to sample more than 100 Coca-Cola products from across the globe. You can also see how the beverage is bottled and catch a show at the 4-D theater.

Atlanta History Center—Created by Atlanta’s biggest fans, this popular museum has been dedicated to preserving Atlanta’s history since 1926. Today the 33-acre experience features award-winning exhibitions, historic houses, enchanting gardens, interactive activities and acres of historic gardens and rural trails.

Weather

Atlanta’s sunny climate is perfect for walking around the city and exploring nearby parks. The average year-round temperature is 60 degrees and it rains about 150 days each year. In May, the average temperature ranges from 79F during the day to 60F at night. If you want to take a break from the heat, most indoor locales are always air-conditioned.
