Community outreach and volunteer programs
Citrix Corporate Citizenship developed several innovative ways to give back to the community, offering attendees a rewarding volunteer experience and the opportunity to support underserved youth in the Las Vegas area.
Simply Serve @ Synergy
In partnership with the United Way of Southern Nevada, attendees joined customers and colleagues to support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education for at-risk youth. It was a fun way to network with colleagues while giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
There were a variety of on-site activities to choose from, including participating in a lively robotics competition, speed mentoring with high-school seniors, helping middle schoolers build bridges and trusses with popsicle sticks, and assembling Arduino electronics kits with young programmers and makers. Attendees who volunteered spent a fun couple of hours engaging with students, sharing their knowledge and experience, and helping students develop their thinking, reasoning, teamwork and creative skills.
Attendees also visited the Corporate Citizenship Booth to meet the team and see firsthand what Citrix is doing to support STEM education programs for at-risk youth in our communities. Several microvolunteer experiences were featured in the booth, including assembling reading and STEM kits for children in low-income Las Vegas schools, and the chance to meet with students from a local high school robotics club along with their robot. Attendees also had the chance to Gamble for Good on the slot machine and win prizes for themselves while helping grant wishes to three local underserved schools.
