About Citrix Synergy San Francisco 

Citrix Synergy San Francisco, which took place on May 25-27, 2011, was a tremendous success that attracted more than 5,500 Citrix customers, partners and staff, as well as many leading IT companies, international media and industry analysts. This three-day event, which focused on virtual computing and served as the venue for a number of Citrix and partner news announcements, was covered live by theCube online television and received extensive media attention around the world. A wide variety of presenters–including customers, analysts, partners, and Citrix executives, architects, consultants and product experts–ensured a diverse and thought-provoking agenda.

Major news announcements

  • Citrix acquires Kaviza, makers of the all-in-one “VDI-in-a-Box” solution for small and medium businesses. The Kaviza product complements the Citrix XenDesktop product line for enterprise desktop virtualization.
  • Citrix announces “Project Olympus,” a new cloud infrastructure product based on the OpenStack project, which will help customers build infrastructure-as-a-service clouds using the same architecture, approach and technology that power the largest clouds in the world.
  • Citrix introduces two cloud networking technologies – NetScaler Cloud Gateway and NetScaler Cloud Bridge – that are designed to seamlessly connect enterprises to external clouds.
  • The launch of Citrix HDX functionality for XenDesktop and XenApp will ensure a high-definition multimedia experience over the WAN and from external clouds.
  • New Citrix XenClient 2 solution is certified to run on three times as many laptops, while the new XenClient XT product provides “extreme” desktop isolation, security and performance.
