Today, while Synergy venues have changed, attendance has increased and technologies have evolved, the conference remains dedicated to this essential theme. Freedom from the limitations of traditional device-centric computing leads to greater user mobility and satisfaction, more cost-effective and efficient IT and increased business agility.
Where it all began
Synergy was born in 1998 as Thinergy, billed as a thin-client/server technology conference on server-based computing architecture. Thinergy presented the concept of centralizing applications on servers and enabling users to view and work with them from any device. The importance of that first Thinergy event was noted around the world. It was called a seminal, landmark IT conference marking the birth of an industry. After two years, Thinergy was renamed Citrix iForum, a series of region-specific events primarily targeting the Citrix ecosystem. By 2008, iForum had evolved into Citrix Synergy, designed as a global, industry-wide conference featuring many voices and views – not only from Citrix but also from customers, analysts, media, opinion leaders and other IT companies.
In 2012, Synergy continues to expand and remain at the forefront of business critical technologies. With its current focus on cloud computing, virtualization and networking, the event reflects ongoing changes in the technologies and solutions that enable anywhere, anytime, any device access to information, people and other resources. However, Synergy remains true to its roots in Thinergy, serving as an inclusive, open forum for the latest ideas, trends, solutions and technologies that combine flexibilityand choice for users with centralized management and control
for IT.
